Santa Clara University Mourns Loss of 18-Year-Old Student Kephas Pope
The Santa Clara University community is in mourning following the tragic death of 18-year-old student Kephas Pope. Pope was struck by a vehicle near the university campus on Thursday, just one day before the Thanksgiving holiday break.
The incident occurred at the intersection of El Camino Real and Accolti Way shortly before noon. According to the Santa Clara police, Pope was found on the ground with visible injuries and was quickly transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. Authorities reported no indications of drug or alcohol involvement in the incident.
Pope, a sophomore at Santa Clara University, is being remembered as a bright and warm individual with a wonderful sense of humor. His family, including his sister, who is also enrolled at the university, and his father, an alumnus, are grieving his loss.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist the family with expenses, including funeral costs. A memorial service is scheduled for December 2 in Sanger, Fresno County.
