Fatal Crash on I-71 in Medina County Claims One Life, Leaves Another Seriously Injured
Medina County, OH – A devastating multi-vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 71 in Medina County during the early hours of Thanksgiving Day, resulting in one fatality and serious injuries to another individual.
According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:16 a.m. on Thursday, when a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling northbound on I-71 in Westfield Township collided with the rear of a Honda Civic.
The Hyundai then veered off the roadway, striking a median cable barrier, and entered the southbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a Dodge cargo van.
The driver of the Hyundai, 25-year-old Eliyjsha Richardson from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was transported to a hospital in Lodi with serious injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash, and no additional injuries have been reported.
