Barbara J. Kornegay, 80, Killed in Tuscaloosa County Head-On Collision
A tragic head-on crash occurred on Saturday in Tuscaloosa County, resulting in the loss of life of 80-year-old Barbara J. Kornegay. The Alabama
State Troopers identified Kornegay, a Chilton County resident, as the victim on Sunday.
The incident happened at 2:30 p.m. on Alabama 171, approximately 16 miles north of Tuscaloosa. According to Trooper Cpl. Reginal King, Kornegay was a passenger in a Nissan Rogue that collided with a Ford F-150 operated by 71-year-old James M. Hollingsworth.
Kornegay was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, 81-year-old Frederick Kornegay, and another passenger, 87-year-old Anne N. Churchwell, were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
