A shooting in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood early Sunday morning resulted in the death of one teenager and left another injured. The incident took place around 2 a.m. in the 2600 block of South Avers, where the two teens were standing when gunfire erupted in their direction.
The deceased victim was identified as 16-year-old Jesus Sanchez, who was struck multiple times in the abdomen. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead despite medical efforts.
The second victim, a 15-year-old, sustained a gunshot wound to the back but is currently in stable condition after being hospitalized.
No suspects have been named at this time, and the Chicago Police Department is actively investigating the shooting. Authorities are working to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the case.
