Fatal Car Crash in Bakersfield Claims Life of 12-Year-Old Girl

Bakersfield, CA – A devastating two-vehicle collision occurred on Friday evening at an intersection in Bakersfield, resulting in the tragic death of a 12-year-old girl and injuring four others.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident took place at approximately 7:24 p.m. on November 22 at the intersection of South Union Avenue and Hosking Avenue.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of a Chevrolet was traveling northbound on South Union Avenue, while the driver of a Honda was attempting to make a left turn into the northbound lanes when the two vehicles collided.

The Honda contained a woman and three passengers, including two juvenile boys, ages 11 and 12. The Chevrolet had a single occupant, a male driver.
All individuals involved in the crash were hospitalized at a local medical facility. Unfortunately, the 12-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries.

The police investigation suggests that speed was a contributing factor to the accident. Furthermore, the driver of the Chevrolet was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested on charges related to DUI, reckless driving, and gross vehicular manslaughter.
The Bakersfield Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
